In the past 5 years what we considered as home, safe and known has become hinterland. We have argued about who we were and where we were going, as a country and as people. We felt cheated by Brexit, and our streets, neighbourhoods and our families became foreign. Multiple lockdowns trapped us in our own lounges, bedrooms and computers. And there we lived without people and with the loss of people, the un-palpable and gigantic loss of them. And in our homes turned wild, we met ourselves.

Monster: A large, ugly, and frightening imaginary creature. etymology: from Latin monere ‘to warn’.

This project is about finding time and compassion for our monsters, welcoming unwanted guests, and spending time with different people, people we agree and disagree with. Like the Mari Llwyd, who, knocks on your door in the depths of winter looking like death, to sit at your table, eat, drink and remind you to live.

We’ll do it by making, telling, singing or dancing, in the real world or online.
